Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SC100S a wired Connection Device? Yes, the SC100S must be connected to the Somfy 1810872 RS485 port via the supplied cable. This cable may be extended using standard RJ45 unions and CAT5 cable straight through cables. The SC100S IP/Mobile Interface must also be connected to your network but this may be via RJ45 CAT cable or via a wireless bridge.
Can I use and extension cable between the SC100S and Somfy 1810872 URTSI II? Yes, but you can use an extension cable but it must be a RJ45 straight through cable. Straight through cables are standard CAT5 network cables that have pin to pin mapping.
Do I have to connect the SC100S to my network for use? Yes, the SC100S IP/Mobile Interface must be connected to your network but this may be via RJ45 CAT cable or via a wireless bridge.
How many Somfy RTS shade motors can the SC100S control? There really isn't a limit to number of shades that can be controlled with the SC100S device but it does specifically control the Somfy 1810872 URTSI II 16 channel interface and mimics its set-up. So it really depends on how you can utilize the 16 channels of control provided by the Somfy 1810872 interface. The 16 Somfy RTS channels can be set up as groups or individual control in the Somfy 1810872 16 Channel URTSI II interface.
Is the SC100S Interface Mobile Ap limited to 16 Channels or group control? Yes, each SC100S is tied to 16 channels of control specific to the Somfy 16 channel URTSI II interface that it is connected to. The Autelis Mobile Ap only has 16 slots of group/channel control built-in but multiple devices can still be used in an installation with multiple Somfy URTSI II interfaces. Each interface will have its own IP address and mobile application controlling it.
How many presets do we get per group or channel Three user configurable presets are available per group or channel beyond the Open, Closed and MY positions included by default.
What are Presets? Presets are additional program stop positions you can program per group or channel. These are similar to what most people know as Somfy's "MY" position. Presets are base on percentage based control so you can program presets to stop the shades at whatever percentage you want. The presets can be a percentage of open or closed and are specified by you. The RTS motors are not directly percentage based controllable and are configured by time. Read more about the percentage based control below.
How is percentage based control of Somfy RTS Motors achieved? Each channel or group can have specific presets assigned to it. Each preset is a percentage based control of the specific RTS channel that it is assigned to. The percentage based command is set by you inputting the the device's run time and the application will calculate times for percentage based control. This must be considered when initially setting up the channels or groups. Every shade in a specific group should of the same height and material for proper preset percentage based control. The device duration run time is a measurement provided by you in seconds of the time it takes the motor to open or close the shade. Note: Some Somfy motors may have a variation in the time it takes to close or open the shade because the motor speed may be faster going down than up. The percentage based control should not be used for critical control.
Can I use another Home Automation System with the URTSI II & the IP Interface / Mobile Ap? Yes, you do have a couple of options for additional control of the Somfy interface for extended automation control. The IR portion of the URTSI II will still function as normal so this may be used for auxiliary automation control while the IP Interface / Mobile Ap is being used. The IP Interface does use the RS232 port of the URTSI II so that can not be used for extended automation control but you can access a virtual serial port over the network for extended home automation control. RS232 to TCP converters can also be used to create a remote RS232 port which also would provide a connection for your home automation system.
Is the IP Interface / Mobile Ap customizable? Yes, the Mobile Ap does have some customization available in it. The groups or channels may be renamed with up to 15 characters of spacing. You may also control passwords and Daylight savings time from the settings menu.
