    The Somfy Sonesse 50 ST50 RTS motors we use are tubular motors that fit inside the tube. The motors are in the largest line-up of motors offered by Somfy which also includes the LT50 series of motors. The biggest benefit of the Sonesse 50 motor is its quieter operation than the LT50 motors and its ability to lift very large shades. The larger sized Sonesse 50 can lift 35lbs on a 2" shade tube. The Sonesse 50 motors are powered by standard 110VAC house voltage and can be plugged into an outlet or hardwired. The ST50 motors carry a 5 year warranty and they will provide years of trouble free operation. We commonly use these motors on shades up to 144" w x 144" h. The ST50 motors are also strong enough to be used in linked shade systems where one motor lifts 2 or more individual shade assemblies. ST50 as you might expect uses heavier duty components and brackets which take up more mounting space so this must be considered prior to purchase. Installation is still quite simple but it is a much heavier job.

    The ST50 RTS Motor is Radio Frequency based so you don't have to point the remote at the shade every time you want to control it. In fact you can control the shades in your living room from your bedroom completely wirelessly. The Somfy ST50 RTS motor stores the limits set by the remote controls and memory is not lost when power is disconnected. With the momentary press of a button you can command the shade to go to the Full up, Full Down and a customer specified preferred position. No need to hold the button down and wait for the shade to reach the desired position. Somfy RTS Motors are virtually limitless in their grouping and control capabilities because each RTS radio frequency remote control is unique. Multiple unique controls can be used to control the same shade without confusion. This provides for more advanced grouping and individual control scenarios. The RTS motors also have more advanced control options like: Timers, Sun Sensors and Home Automation interfaces that can be controlled via RS232, RS485 and Dry Contact. RTS motors are also Radio Frequency based so you don't have to point a remote directly at the motor to operate it

Black-out and Light Blocking ST50 RTS Motorized shades use materials that block 100% of the light through the material.

Note: Light Leakage will occur around the sides and top/bottom of the shades.

We do have pocket and channel systems to address light leakage at the sides and top of the shades.

Sheer, Room Dimming and Translucent Materials

Sheer, Room Dimming and Translucent ST50 RTS Motorized Shades Material are closed weave shades app. 0% open.

These materials are considered translucent because they diffuse the light and usually illuminate when light hits them.

These materials provide the most privacy without completely blocking the light.

Note: Light Leakage will occur around the sides and top/bottom of the shades.

1% Open Weave Materials

1% Open Weave ST50 RTS Motorized Shades are woven materials consisting that generally have a visible pattern.

Shade materials with a higher openness provide more light, more visibility and less privacy.
