| Furez SP8-SB60NP - Bare Copper Spade Speaker Connectors - Per Pair

The Furez SP8-SB60 series spade speaker connectors are machined from a single solid piece of the highest conductivity copper possible (C11000 101% IACS) ensuring maximum signal transfer is achieved. Dual T6 Torx set screws provide very secure attachment of speaker cable and each spade connector comes with 2 set screw sizes to ensure proper fit for various speaker cable sizes. Additionally, the SP8-SB60 spade speaker connector is designed with a deep barrel and forward positioned set screws so the insulation of the cable can remain inside the barrel of the connector thus alleviating the issue of exposed bare wire strands. The SP8-SB60 series spade speaker cable connectors are offered without plating or with direct silver plating (app. 106% IACS) to suit a variety of installation requirements. Nickel (app. 24%IACS), Rhodium (app. 39% IACS) and Platinum (16% IACS) are not used in our plating schemes because these low conductivity metals only take away from the performance of the connector while adding cost. IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) is the standard by which conductivity of copper alloys and metals are compared.

The final crimp dimension will depend on what type of crimp tool you will be using. Fancy tools are NOT required. We used a multipurpose crimper/stripper. These tools do vary in features from MFG to MFG. The feature you will be looking for will something like this tool picture. The goal is to achieve a half moon shape on one side of the crimped sleeve. This will allow you to maintain maximum contact area with the speaker connector. The other side of the crimp is not important as this will be contacted by the set screws in the speaker.
When using the crimp sleeve we recommend stripping off app. 1" of speaker wire insulation. Perform a test fit to make sure you have enough conductor present to fill the speaker connector and then crimp on the copper crimp sleeve. Finally, trim only enough conductor so that the crimp sleeve fits into the connector all the way. This way you have maximum contact area in the connector even if the crimp sleeve is a little short. The crimp sleeve can also be cut after crimping if they are too long.

The Wiha Proturn T6 Torx driver is a mid sized Torx driver suited for many applications. The advantages of the Wiha 45505 Proturn Torx T6 driver is that the properly machined driver tip will hold the screw so you can have one hand free while inserting the screw into your work piece and the snug fit of the tip allows for the maximum screw torque without stripping the screw head. Properly machined Torx drivers provide the maximum torque potential of the varying screw types available for set screws. Note: Always make sure the Torx driver is fully seated in the screw before assembly and also note that not all Torx drivers are created equal. The budget Torx drivers that come in the value kits are often times of poor quality and the use of these value drivers will result in the screw being stripped.
