We only use high quality parts in our shades from recognized leading component manufacturers like Rollease, Somfy, Phifer Etc.. The standard tubes are 1.5" diameter Rollease aluminum tubes they will not warp. We provide one of the most detailed websites so you can see what goes into your shades. Most of our competitors follow a chart specifying the minimum recommended components for manufacture of shades. We build our shades to a quality that we would like to see used in our own home not the minimum standard. If your comparing our pricing to our competitors be sure to find out what components their using. You'll find we are very competitive and we generally are specifying higher quality components.

Somfy is the industry leader in supplying motorized solutions for: shades, awnings, projection screens etc. All Somfy motor and electronic components are warranted for 5 years (Excluding Batteries). Somfy has an extensive product line-up that covers the most basic installation up to the Automated Home Installation. The Somfy motors are built with compatibility in mind. All RTS motors can be controlled by the same RTS controls. This means you can have a variety of motorized installations all operating with the same control 

About the IR and RTS RF Control Options

IR Control

The IR Remote can control motorized shades up to 50ft away. Each IR Remote can control unlimited number of shades with ease. IR control is line of sight so you must point the remote at each shade to be controlled individually. The IR remote is used to program the motorized shade limits and presets positions. The limits and presets are stored in the motors memory and are not lost when power is lost. With one simple momentary button press the user can move the motorized shade to: Full up, Full Down, 75% Down, 25% Down and a Customer Specified Preferred Position. No need to hold the button down and wait for the shade to reach the desired position. Satellite Eyes are available to extended the IR eye beyond a valance or other obstruction. The IR remotes codes are not learnable.  Home Automation via IR Control is possible with our Universal Automation Interface AVUA-IRRTS.

RTS RF Control

The Somfy motors with built-in RTS RF (Radio Frequency Controlled) can be operated in groups or individually. Unlike IR motorized control the RTS motorized shades do not require line of sight control. This means you can control your shade in the living room from the bedroom in an automated fashion or with a hand held remote. The ability to be able to group and or isolate motorized shades facilitates easier automation like control as well as full automation control. With the hand held RTS remote control the user can command the shade to move to its Full Up, Full down or customer preferred position with a momentary button press.

    Each RTS motor can memorize up to 12 RTS channels of remote control.  More the one remote can control the same shade allowing for more versatile set-ups. This allows the end user more flexibility in control. One remote can be lying around for casual use, you can have a wireless wall mounted control, a programmed timer or a home automation all controlling the same shades without confusion in control.

The Various Somfy Shade Motors

Somfy LT30 Battery Powered Motors for Roller Shades

The Somfy LT30 motors we use are tubular motors that fit inside the tube and are not a retrofit motor. The biggest benefit of the LT30 motor is its ability to be powered by a 12VDC Battery pack or by a power supply. The external battery pack can typically be easily concealed and the batteries typically last 1 to 2 years (depending on shade size and frequency of use). These motors are perfect for post construction applications where power has not previously been provided. The LT30 motors carry a 5 year warranty and they will provide years of trouble free operation. The Somfy LT30 battery operated motorized roller shades are available with two types: LT30 RTS RF Motors and LT IR Motors. The LT30 series motors are the smallest of the the Somfy motors for roller shades but pack more than enough power to lift quite large shades. The LT30 motors can lift 12.5lbs on a 1.5 Rollease Tube. We commonly use these motors on shades up to 96" w x 72" h. The LT30 series of motors also install with fairly common mounting hardware so installation is fairly simple. These Somfy LT30 do not need to powered by batteries. The user can power them with their own power supply or we can also provide power supplies for individual or multiple shade installations. We can even convert most chain driven shades to a LT30 motorized shade. Our std LT30 motorized shades are built with 1.5" tubes but we can also use these motors with 1.25" and in special applications 2" tubes.

Sonesse 30 ST30 Motors for Roller Shades

The Somfy Sonesse 30 ST30 motors we use are tubular motors that fit inside the tube and are not a retrofit motor. The biggest benefit of the ST30 motor is its quieter operation than the LT30 motors and its ability to lift larger shades. The mid sized Sonesse 30 can lift  17.5lbs on a 1.5 shade tube. The Sonesse 30 motors are powered by an external 24VDC power supply. The ST30 motors carry a 5 year warranty and they will provide years of trouble free operation. The Somfy Sonesse 30 ST30 motorized roller shades are available ONLY as RTS RF Motors.  We commonly use these motors on shades up to 120" w x 96" h. The ST30 series of motors also install with fairly common mounting hardware so installation is fairly simple. The user can power these motors with their own power supply or we can also provide power supplies for individual or multiple shade installations. We can even convert most chain driven shades to a LT30 motorized shade. Our std ST30 motorized shades are built with 1.5" tubes but we can also use these motors on 2" tubes. The Sonesse 30 motor does not fit into a 1.25" tube.

Sonesse 50 ST50 Motors for Roller Shades

The Somfy Sonesse 50 ST50 motors we use are tubular motors that fit inside the tube and are not a retrofit motor. The motors are in the largest line-up of motors offered by Somfy which also includes the LT50 series of motors. The biggest benefit of the Sonesse 50 motor is its quieter operation than the LT50 motors and its ability to lift very large shades. The larger sized Sonesse 50 can lift 35lbs on a 2" shade tube. The Sonesse 50 motors are powered by standard 110VAC house voltage and can be plugged into an outlet or hardwired. The ST50 motors carry a 5 year warranty and they will provide years of trouble free operation. The Somfy Sonesse 50 ST50 motorized roller shades are available ONLY as RTS RF Motors. We commonly use these motors on shades up to 16' w x 96" h. The ST50 motors are also strong enough to be used in linked shade systems where one motor lifts 2 or more individual shade assemblies. ST50 as you might expect use heavier duty components and brackets. Installation is still quite simple but it is a much heavier job.
